Burano

The island of Burano is known for its colorful houses as well as a history of lace making. The colors of the houses follow a specific system originating from the golden age of its development; if someone wishes to paint their home, one must send a request to the government, who will respond by making notice of the certain colors permitted for that lot.
This little boy was outside kicking the ball against the side of the house. You could hear his grandmother hollering at him to stop kicking the house. Of course the little boy made a game of it. When he'd kick it again his grandmother would run out of the house, grab the ball and run back inside. He would chase after her. It was wonderful to watch them playing. :)

We bought some postcards that had old pictures of the island. The gentleman that was selling them told us the history of each one.
