Trash Day
Garbage collection in Venice, like everything else, is done by boat.
The garbage collection barges are too large to arrive in front of each house so trash is placed outside the doorstep early each morning when the garbage collectors pick it up and deliver it to the nearest barge.
HEY!! This is absolute PROOF that Steve and I would enjoy a trip to visit Italy!! He's a little concerned though, since he's so use to driving his garbage truck and stopping along the way to pick up people's trash... but he said it's sure worth a try to see how that would work by boat!
