If, no when, you travel to Venice, you'll research all sorts of information and you'll read pages of blogs from people who claim to know the 'best' places to see and the 'don't miss' places to eat. 

But my advice ~ just show up, walk around, and take lots of pictures. 

 
That's all it takes to have a memorable time in Venice.
