Day 29

Almost one month into my REAL food journey and I just keep thinking about how crazy it is for me to have to “think” about what I eat. A bird doesn’t have to “think” about what to eat; it knows what it needs to eat. A frog doesn’t seem to have a problem figuring out what a healthy diet is. Nope~ just us humans!! Actually, I don’t think it’s all that tough knowing what we should eat – it’s more about there being so much food out there that really isn’t food at all!!  Along with my “rules” I’ve been thinking about ‘the old days’ when pioneers had a limited amount of food available to them and how they fed themselves and their families. They ate REAL food – every single day. So I started thinking about what REAL food is.  REAL food will rot or decay fairly quickly. (I found a bag of marshmallows that we opened at Christmas LAST Year and guess what??  They are fine, still edible; still look just like they would if I bought them today!!) So… NOT REAL FOOD! And I didn’t need to look at the ingredient list to know the main ingredient is SUGAR! REAL FOOD doesn’t need to have an ingredient list on it at all. If I’m eating real food, I can tell what it is just by looking!  REAL FOOD won’t claim to “fix” a health problem. Nothing can “fix” a health problem EXCEPT maybe REAL FOOD!
It’s not rocket science to know that the more I cook at home, the healthier I eat. Can it be done every single night? Absolutely! But realistically, there are days when I’m just tired and don’t feel like I have the energy to cook. But to stay on this journey – which I’ve made a priority – I do it.

* Thought For the Day *
We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.

  1. WOW!!! What deep thoughts in the Ocean of your heart! You seem to have received divine inspiration, motivation, and comprehension in this arena of life. What a profound thought... Real food doesn't have an ingredient list on it! You know, even though I've not been walking in your shoes, following your footprints in the sand has given me a greater awareness of what I'm shoveling in to my body... and guess what-- also what I'm selectively choosing NOT to!! I've lost another 3#, bringing me to another milestone on the scale. It's still a very large 3-digit number, but one that I haven't seen in a long, long time. It almost appears that I'm finally starting to be "un-stuck" in my subtraction process~ thanks to Y-O-U!
Just wanted you to know that I love you and that I truly think that this blog you're keeping is destined for higher places... a PRINT VERSION!! Keep up the Quest!
    Love,
    Your other heart-half Twin!
