Day 61

As I’m shopping for fruit in town yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice the enormous amount of candy in the aisles just waiting for the Halloween weekend ahead. Something I did notice however was how much bigger the bags are. Maybe I’m just imagining it, but they seemed huge! AND they were $8 per bag! Dang – is it just me or does that seem expensive? No – That’s expensive!  I’m under strict orders from my kids that I cannot hand out apples J so I need to find something I’m comfortable with giving out. I almost feel ‘guilty’ by not having candy which is completely ridiculous. I guess it’s one of those things that have ‘always been that way’ and when you don’t follow the status quo, you feel a little out of sorts. But I have to say, I don’t feel guilty enough to hand out buckets of candy either. J Maybe I can meet the kids at the door and just have spoon and a 5 pound bag of sugar and give them each a mouthful of that. Same thing really. J
I empathize with the teachers when the kids come to school the next morning and they are in a sugar coma.  From past experience, I know there will be some sluggish kiddos and the learning process will be slow – kind of like warming up cold molasses.

  1. Yes, IT IS expensive! I could not believe it either! I bought an $8 bag of candy for trick or treaters (now which we can't use) and I could not believe that it was so expensive! If I had to hand out something other than candy, I would hand out those "silly band" things. Kids are SO into those now! I hate them because they are always playing with them in class. I am not sure how expensive they are though....I will have to show you some....I saw some in Scheels the other day.
