Day 94

I’ve started reading a new book, The China Study by DR.T. Colin Campbell. It details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. It’s based on a lifetime of scientific research and it is eye opening to say the least. He grew up on a farm eating meat, eggs, and milk and started his career by promoting better health by eating even more meat, eggs, and milk. What he found in his studies was surprising, even to him. Very interesting reading!! Another perspective that makes you think!

If there is one condiment that I think should actually be a food group, its ketchup. I LOVE ketchup. And I used to use a lot of it! Here is food for thought -- Some interesting facts on ketchup:
*Ketchup is one of the most popular condiments in the US – its a half a billion dollar industry
* Ketchup is originally from east Asia and was used as a spicy fish sauce called Ke-Tsiap
*Ketchup is 25% sugar! No wonder I like it! J
*Ketchup is high in salt. A single teaspoon of ketchup contains almost ten percent of a day’s worth of recommended sodium. – yikes
* Squeeze bottles were introduced in the 1980’s to solve the problem of ketchup not coming out of glass containers.
*Not everyone is a fan of ketchup. In the Netherlands, mayonnaise is the condiment of choice with french fries.
I have no idea what you might do with these facts on ketchup but maybe it will help you answer a trivia question the next time your family has game night. Ha!
·         Thought for the day
There is one thing you should be abundantly thankful for – Only you and God have all the facts about yourself.
