Challenge #2 – Day 11

I picked up the mail last night and there was a package from Swiss Colony someone sent as a gift. Thank you to that someone for thinking of us. Inside was a box of cashews (yeah!), a package of dried fruit and a box of petit fours all decorated for the holidays. Of course, the first thing I did was flip the package over and look at the ingredient list! On the petit fours the list was SO long – I just had to count the number of ingredients --- just had to. J  65 – Honestly -  65 Ingredients! I am not exaggerating! I opened the box and looked at these delicious looking little chemical time bombs and could not believe how much crap was put in to them to make them look so appetizing. I don’t want to sound ungrateful but I’m thinking about tossing them in the trash. Yes, I could put them out for my family and let them make their own decision to eat them or not, OR I could toss them and not expose my loved ones to yet another toxic food choice! Hmmm… decisions decisions. I think I know what I’ll do.
My eating for the day was a little out of whack because I decided to make a last minute trip to Kearney to buy frames at Hobby Lobby. All frames were ½ price and I knew they wouldn’t be back on sale for a while. So, I grabbed a banana and grapefruit for breakfast and I headed out. By 1:30 I was ready to eat and had planned on getting a spinach salad at Subway but as I drove by a grocery store, I decided to just pull in there and get myself a banana!  While I was in the store, I saw some dried fruit on a display and thought that might be a good thing to munch on driving home. So of course I looked at the ingredient list and as I’m standing there reading it, I said to myself, “This is ridiculous, I can’t pronounce one of these ingredients!”  Guess what? The ingredients were in SPANISH!  Hilarious!   So lunch consisted of a banana only. After a few more stops here in North Platte, I decided I had shopped enough for one day! As soon as I got home, I made some whole wheat pasta with sauce for supper. It tasted great, I was hungry!  I’m so happy about sticking with all the rules! Especially when I’m not home in my own controlled environment. J
*Thought for the day*
What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus?
“Claustrophobic."

  1. I hate to waste food, but I wouldn't think of tossing a box of chemical-laden junk as wasting FOOD! Have you counted the ingredients in some of their "meats"?!
